Ms. Dawnmarie Simmons
Ms. Dawnmarie Simmons was born in the sunny state of Florida where she was raised as an avid Gator fan. She always knew she wanted to work with children from her time in Adventurers and Pathfinders. She graduated from the College of Central Florida with her Associate's Degree Elementary Education before relocating to Tennessee. This was her first experience with snow and freezing winters but she fell in love with the Fall season and the vivid colors. She completed her Bachelor's at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN, before taking a mission year to go to ARISE, a Bible institute in Jasper, Oregon. Wanting to stay close to her twin sister and in the beautiful state of Tennessee led her to Memphis Junior Academy. The minute she walked through the doors she felt like she had come to the place she belonged and she hopes each of her students feels the same way when they enter her classroom. In addition to teaching, Ms. Simmons loves anything active and outdoors. That includes running, biking, hiking, and all sports (except maybe golf). In her down time Ms. Simmons loves to read, collect pins, and play around with her violin. Ms. Simmons has been teaching at MJA since 2013.
